For international travellers, the nearest major airport is in Delhi, situated 380 kilometres from Chail. Delhi's airport is well-connected to numerous international and domestic cities. Taxis can be easily hired from Delhi to reach the picturesque destination of Chail.

The nearest narrow-gauge railway station to Chail is located in Kandaghat. The renowned Kalka – Shimla toy train route passes through Kandaghat, offering travellers an opportunity to alight and switch to alternate modes of transportation to reach Chail by road. Alternatively, travellers can continue their journey on the toy train all the way to Shimla and then find a bus from Shimla to Chail. To reach Chail by train, one must first book a train to either Kalka or Chandigarh. For instance, if you're travelling from Delhi, you can board the Howrah – Delhi – Kalka Mail and reach Kalka. The Toy train from Kalka operates at 4 AM, 6 AM, and 12:10 PM. Travelers can choose any of these three options and ride the train to Kandaghat or Shimla in 2.5 hours.

Although taxis are available in Kandaghat for transport to Chail, it's advisable to proceed to Shimla first via train due to the availability of better transportation facilities in Shimla. The journey from Shimla to Chail offers a scenic route that passes through Kufri, another famous tourist destination in the region.
