Ever heard of a temple dedicated to a demoness? Well then you must know about Hadimba Temple Manali. This temple is dedicated to the wife of Bhima, Hidimba, from the Mahabharata and is revered here as a goddess, symbolizing virtue, strength, and spirituality. Hidimba was the wife of the second brother of the Pandavas, Bhima. It is said that Hidimba was a demoness who lived here with her brother Hidimb. She had vowed that whoever defeated her brother Hidimb in battle, she would marry that person. Sometime later, when the Pandavas came here during their exile, they defeated Hidimb in a battle. After this Hidimba and Bhima got married.
There is another story attached to this temple. When Hidimba's son Ghatotkach grew up, Hidimba meditated in the forest, leaving him in charge of looking after the kingdom. After many years, her prayers were successful and the goddess then attained glory.
There are no entry fees to visit this temple. It is open according to general timings, from 8 AM to 6 PM.
If you are going from Manali Mall Road, the distance is just 2 km, which makes it quite accessible for tourists. If you like walking then you can simply take a walk to Hadimba Temple Road, as the distance is not too much. Other than this there are taxi services available to reach here. Autos, buses or shared cabs are readily available from Manali Mall Road to the temple.
Also known as Hadimba Devi Fair and Doongri Festival is held near the Temple and is just 1.5 km from the Manali bus stand. This fair festival is celebrated in May to mark the onset of spring, the most pleasant season of all. This fair attracts a lot of tourists and locals, both to celebrate the valley at its natural best. Doongri Fair is usually held in the month of May.

Temperature changes with the seasons and is beautiful all year round. Summers from March till June are considered the Best time to visit Manali and this temple, with temperatures between 10°C to 25°C.
