Day 1: Arrival at Shimla

Day 2: Shimla to Sangla

With the fresh morning, say goodbye to Shimla and head towards Sangla, another peaceful village tucked away in the mountains with the landscape full of greenery. Your journey will take you through the Kinnaur Valley. it is time for you to roll down the windows and watch how green hills slowly get transformed into snow-capped mountains.

On the way, do not forget to stop at the Padam Palace, this big and fancy palace used to be the home of the Bushahr Dynasty king. It will not take so much time to explore all around, but meanwhile you must be hungry as it is lunch time, order some delicious and authentic food at the NauNabh hotel which is just a walking distance away. Now be ready to explore some more places. There is a famous temple in Sarahan, dedicated to goddess Kali named Bhimakali temple. Now, it’s entirely up to you whether you want to visit that place or not because it is not on your way to Sangla. It is a bit off from the main road and about 16 km from Jeori.

Once you reach Sangla, visit the historic Kamakhya Devi temple, surrounded by the beautiful nature and full of serenity. You must be very tired till now, check in to some cosy hotel and some authentic dinner and sleep with a dream of the next exciting journey.

Day 3: Next day to Kalpa

Just wait! Before you start packing for the next trip, we guess you forgot the best destination of Sangla, that is Sangla Valley. This place is full of apple orchids and traditional wooden homes. That is not it, you can enjoy the splendid beauty of Kinner Kailash peak, a sacred mountain idolized by Hindus and Buddhists. You can also explore Kamru Fort, located just 2 km from the tourist town and is around 1400 years old. After exploring all the places of Sangla now head towards the Kalpa often referred to as the “Switzerland of India”. In the evening, visit the centuries-old Kalpa Monastery, decorated with complex statues and paintings surrounded by a calm and composed environment. During sunset, the whole village appeared to be painted red (metaphorically). From there head towards your homestay to engage with lovely conversation about the trip and dinner.

Day 4: Kalpa to Tabo

This day is going to be tiring, so we assume you have taken proper rest yesterday. Today’s adventure will start with a journey of approximately 150 km from Kalpa to Tabo, but the road conditions are not that good, you can reach there in 5-6 hours but keep in mind that it can take an extra 1-2 hours because of road conditions. You can take a short stop at Nako. This is a hidden treasure of Himachal pradesh.

Spend some time together, while you sit beside the beautiful Nako Lake.  Upon reaching Tabo, around 28 km form Nako head towards Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a 1000-year-old architectural marvel where you can get to know about the rich culture and spirituality of this place. In the evening, enjoy a candlelit dinner with a local Spitian family, taste the unique flavors and learn about their traditions.

Day 5: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar

Kaza is the main town in Spiti Valley. Head towards Sichling, there you will find a connecting road towards Dhankar, take a detour to Dhankar Gompa, an ancient monastery located on a cliffside with an amazing mountain view. Once you reach Dhankar, treat yourselves to a stay in mountains view rooms, perfect for intimate moments and stargazing with your partner. Day 6: Kaza to Hikkim to Komic to Langza to Kaza

After reading the heading, we guess you get the idea that today you are going to explore many iconic places.  After leaving Kaza and a 15 km drive you will reach Hikkim, the home of the world’s highest post office. From there you can send some lovely postcards to your loved ones. Remember that there is no proper mobile or internet connectivity. It make this place great to share your love stories with each other without getting distracted. Next, move to the next village ‘Komic’, just 3 km from Hikkim, also known as the world’s highest motorable village.

After spending some time there, Langza will be your next stop. This place is also known as Buddha Park with numerous Buddhist statues and prayer flags. As well as being famous for fossils of the Triassic-Jurassic period, you can also visit Land temple, which is more than 1000 years old. Now it is time to return back to Kaza, there you can create a truly romantic experience by setting up a cozy bonfire under the starlit sky.

Day 7: Kaza to Chandratal

This morning you will head towards Chandratal, via Losar, as these places have few dhabas, you can grab some breakfast and enjoy the greenery. Moving further to the hill pass you will reach Kunzum Pass. This is a must stop place for every traveller. Everyone passing through this route takes the blessing of “Kuzum Mata”. From there your journey is going to be a little difficult, a steep trek route which takes about 3 hours to reach Chandratal. Please don’t expect that there is a road, you only have to follow tyre tracks. We assume this will be your riskiest and toughest drive.

Once you start, after a 9 km drive take a right turn towards Manali via Batal. From there drive more than 10 km to reach Chandratal. Explore the Chandratal Lake, also known as the “Moon Lake” surrounded by snow-capped peaks and meadows carpeted with wildflowers. You can camp at the Chandratal, this will be a unique and romantic experience under the Himalayan sky. Or, you can go back to Batal where you will find few homestays.

Day 8: Chandratal to Manali

This is your last day of your itinerary and last destination as well. Once you leave Batal, drive till Gramphu, from there you will have two route option to choose from:

Gramphu – Rohtang – Kothi – Palchan – Manali

Gramhpu – Koksar – Chandra Bridge – Atal Tunnel – Solang Valley – Manali

Upon reaching Manali, check into your hotel, try to relax after your adventure-filled days. In the evening, take a walk through the Manali market, exploring the various shops and cafes hand-in-hand and share the past week experiences with each other because those were some of the best moments of your lifetime.
