Shimla Airport operates limited flights, with just 6 flights a week connecting Shimla to Delhi, all operated by Jagson Airlines, an air charter company.
Chandigarh Airport offers more extensive options, including flights operated by Jet Airways and Air Deccan, connecting to destinations like Jammu, Delhi, and Mumbai. For international travellers, reaching cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, or Kolkata and then catching a connecting flight to Chandigarh is a viable option. Situated just 20 kilometres from Kufri, Shimla is well-connected through a narrow gauge line with Kalka, located 100 kilometres away. Kalka, in turn, serves as a significant junction connecting Shimla to major cities across India. The enchanting toy train journey from Kalka to Shimla is nothing short of magical as it passes through 107 tunnels and lofty arched bridges. For those travelling from Delhi, which is approximately 360 miles away, reaching Kufri takes about 8 hours and 30 minutes. The distance from Narkanda to Kufri is about 50 kilometres, and the trip typically takes around 2 hours.
